Biography

Lo Jones grew up in a small town in the Catskills of New york, daydreaming up fantasies of adventure, heroics, and romance. At the age of 6, she began learning to play the piano and fell in love with the classical era but it wasn't until she was in college that she began writing music of her own. As her relationship with music grew, Jones was able to use playing the piano as an escape from the outside world. Composers from the romantic era, such as Frederic Chopin and Claude Debussy, were her biggest inspirations and her songs are deeply influenced by them, giving them that uniquely dark quality.

Since then, Jones' writing methods have evolved into an intelligent art form, developing her into a consummate musician. Recycling the familiar voicings of classical piano pieces, Jones took to arranging strings and other instruments for her own songs and occasionally for other people. It is with a string quartet that she prefers to perform with and often does. She now teaches private music lessons and plays in and around New York City, solo and with the quartet and intends to keep making, recording, releasing, and performing music as a lifestyle.
